Wholesale Spirulina Flakes

Aqua Plus^® Spirulina Flake Fish Food is a flake-form diet developed for ornamental fish that benefit from a greater proportion of plant-based ingredients in their feeding routine. Spirulina, a nutrient-rich cyanobacterium commonly used in aquafeed formulations, provides protein and naturally occurring pigments.

Combined with other suitable feed ingredients, it can help create a varied diet for herbivorous and omnivorous aquarium fish.

Unlike feeding routines built around a single type of food, a spirulina-based flake diet offers another way to introduce plant-derived nutrients into the aquarium. Protein supplies amino acids for tissue maintenance and growth, while dietary fats provide energy and essential fatty acids when included in a balanced formulation.

Spirulina also contains pigments such as phycocyanin and carotenoids, although their levels depend on the raw material and processing method. These compounds contribute to the characteristic color of spirulina and may support natural coloration as part of an appropriate overall diet.

The flake format is easy to portion and distribute across the water surface, making it convenient for routine feeding in home aquariums, fish shops, breeding facilities, and commercial ornamental fish operations.

Fish can pick up the flakes as they soften and disperse, while the keeper can adjust the amount according to the number, size, and feeding response of the fish.

Spirulina flakes are particularly useful in feeding programs for fish that naturally consume algae, plant matter, or mixed diets. They can also be alternated with suitable animal-protein feeds to provide dietary variety.

For species with specialized nutritional needs, the formula should be selected according to their natural feeding habits rather than relying on spirulina alone.
