Products Description

Aqua Plus® Spirulina Discs are formulated around the natural feeding habits of plecos and bottom-dwelling fish. These fish feed primarily on algae, vegetables, and plant debris in the wild, with digestive systems that process plant-based ingredients more efficiently than animal protein. The formula uses spirulina as the primary ingredient, accounting for no less than 30% of the total formulation, with spinach, zucchini, and peas added to provide fibre and natural vitamins. Fish meal content is kept within a moderate range. Protein structure remains relatively intact during the pressing process, and the discs hold their shape in water, allowing bottom fish to feed at their own pace without rushing.
Spirulina Wafers are cleaned and pre-treated before production. Spirulina is dried under controlled temperature, and vegetables are blanched to preserve fibre. Mixing follows a stepwise process: trace ingredients such as vitamins and minerals are pre-blended with a carrier before entering the main mixer, ensuring better dispersion than direct addition. Extrusion temperature is controlled to prevent overheating, limiting protein and vitamin loss.
Pleco Food discs can be attached to the tank wall or left to sink. Feed once or twice daily, with each portion consumed within two to three hours. Store in a cool, dry place after opening. Damp conditions reduce adhesion but do not affect safety.

FAQ
Q: What is the protein content of these spirulina discs and how does it compare to other bottom feeder foods?
A: Crude protein ≥35%, primarily from spirulina algae and moderate fish meal. This level supports growth and maintenance in herbivorous and omnivorous bottom feeders without exceeding the protein needs of species adapted to plant-based diets.
Q: What are the packaging options for bulk spirulina disc orders?
A: Standard bulk packaging: 65g/100ml PET jars (144 pcs/ctn) and 130g/250ml PET jars (60 pcs/ctn). OEM orders support custom jar sizes, private label printing, and stand-up pouch options. MOQ applies for custom packaging.
Q: How should spirulina discs be stored to maintain freshness?
A: Store unopened in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Shelf life: 24 months. After opening, seal jar tightly and use within 2-3 months to maintain disc freshness and nutritional integrity.
Q: Can spirulina discs be attached to aquarium glass or do they need to sink?
A: Both options work. The discs can be pressed gently against the glass, where they adhere and allow fish to graze naturally. They can also be dropped to the bottom for fish that prefer substrate feeding.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for bulk spirulina discs?
A: MOQ starts from 10 cartons for standard products. OEM custom packaging requires separate MOQ negotiation. Samples available with sample fee refundable upon order confirmation.
