Aqua Plus^® Discus Fish Food is not a general feed with a different label. Discus fish have higher protein requirements than most tropical fish, and their digestive systems process animal protein more efficiently than plant protein. The formula uses fish meal and shrimp meal as primary sources, with protein levels covering daily maintenance and growth. Omega-3 is added to address common issues in captive discus, such as fading colour and reduced immunity. Fat is kept within a moderate range to meet energy needs without adding liver strain. Vitamin and mineral ratios reference the feeding structure of discus in natural waters, not generic additive standards.

Food For Discus Fish has particle size adjusted to match the discus mouth gap. The sinking rate is set to allow discus to feed in the water column without chasing to the bottom. Soft granules are more readily accepted than hard pellets, especially for picky individuals. The granules hold their shape in water without breaking apart quickly. Leftovers stay intact and are easy to remove. For new arrivals or fish recovering from condition fluctuations, the smell and texture trigger feeding response relatively quickly. After opening, keep sealed and away from moisture. Damp conditions affect granule stability and palatability.

Discus Granules suit discus (Heckel, Green, Brown), as well as other similarly sized cichlids. Feed two to three times daily, with each portion consumed within two to three minutes. Feeding response is most stable at 26 to 28°C. Below this range, activity drops and portion size should be reduced accordingly. Discus Fish Feed should be used within a reasonable timeframe after opening. Extended storage affects physical stability and smell. For mixed tanks, this feed can serve as the daily staple without requiring additional pellet products.
