Artemia protects wetland biodiversity

Artemia needs to live in a high concentration of salt water, which will cause no grass around the Artemia pond. But the 540-square-kilometer Caofeidian Wetland is a rich artificial wetland with reed wetlands, reservoirs, ditches, paddy field wetlands, freshwater wetlands, seawater wetlands, brine wetlands, and aquaculture ponds coexisting. The type of wetland has achieved important ecological value here.

Brine shrimp and wetland

Due to its natural properties of saline-alkali land and the climate characteristics of water shortage and high evaporation, brine wetland has long been a type of its own wetland in Caofeidian wetland, and it is also a special wetland type formed as saline-alkali land for a long time in history. Together with the reed wetlands in the early stage of military reclamation, the paddy field wetlands after reclamation and stabilization in the later stage, and the seawater and freshwater aquaculture pond wetlands later, Caofeidian's rich and diverse wetland types have been formed. It is these rich and unique wetland types that provide diverse habitats and sufficient food for more than 300 migratory and resident birds, attracting many migratory birds to stay here, and giving them unique ecological value.
