Products Description
Aqua Plus® Freeze Dried Gammarus Food is a whole-crustacean supplementary feed designed for ornamental fish, pond fish and other aquatic animals that can consume small crustaceans. Gammarus, commonly known as scuds or freshwater amphipods, has a naturally firm body structure and a recognizable exoskeleton. Unlike finely ground fish food or compressed pellets, freeze dried Gammarus offers a more substantial feeding texture, making it particularly useful for fish that prefer larger pieces of natural animal food.
For commercial buyers, Dried Gammarus Shrimp is suitable for aquarium feed retail, aquatic pet food distribution and the development of natural crustacean-based feed assortments.
Advantage
Freeze drying removes moisture from frozen raw material under controlled vacuum conditions. This helps retain the recognizable shape of the crustacean and creates a lightweight product that is easy to handle and portion. When exposed to water, the dried Gammarus gradually softens, allowing keepers to adjust its texture before feeding. This is particularly useful when the food needs to be broken into smaller pieces for fish with limited mouth capacity.
For daily aquarium management, Freeze Dried Gammarus can introduce a different prey type and feeding texture into a routine otherwise based on flakes or pellets. It is particularly suitable for larger omnivorous and carnivorous fish, goldfish, koi and aquatic turtles that accept crustacean-based foods.
