Shrimp Larval Feed Microencapsulated Feed

Aqua Plus^® Shrimp Larval Microencapsulated Feed is formulated around the metabolic differences of penaeid larvae across Zoea, Mysis, and PL stages. Zoea larvae have small mouth gaps and underdeveloped digestive systems, requiring particle sizes of 50 to 100 microns with thin walls and extended suspension time to match filter-feeding behaviour. Mysis larvae shift to active predation, needing thicker walls and faster sinking at 100 to 150 microns. PL stages require 150 to 200 microns with increased wall hardness to slow nutrient release and reduce leaching. The same encapsulation technology is used across all stages, but particle size, sink rate, and capsule wall thickness are set separately rather than using a single set of parameters. Microencapsulation technology encloses high-concentration proteins, highly unsaturated fatty acids, and immune enhancers within stable capsule walls, releasing nutrients slowly with minimal leaching to ensure each pellet is fully utilised.

Microencapsulated Shrimp Hatchery Feed has protein content matched to the metabolic needs of each stage, with Zoea focusing on fine particles and palatability, Mysis on protein density and energy, and PL on amino acid composition. β-glucan and probiotics do not act as direct sterilizing agents but activate the larvae's immune system in advance, building defences before pathogens are encountered. Carotenoids and astaxanthin participate in pigment deposition through metabolism, with colour improvement requiring consistent feeding over time rather than short-term boosting. Zoea Microencapsulated Feed maintains particle integrity before ingestion, reducing residual feed accumulation and water quality fluctuations, allowing larvae to develop in a stable environment.

Mysis Shrimp Feed suits Penaeus monodon, Litopenaeus vannamei, and Penaeus japonicus during Zoea, Mysis, and early PL stages. A three-day gradual transition from live feed to microencapsulated feed is recommended, with live feed reduced and microencapsulated feed increased in proportion each day. Monitor ammonia and dissolved oxygen during feeding, keeping ammonia below 0.5mg/L and dissolved oxygen above 5mg/L. Feeding amounts should be based on larval gut fullness rather than fixed portion sizes, as overfeeding adds unnecessary load to water quality. Early Post-Larva Feed should be kept sealed in a cool, dry place after opening. Batch-to-batch variation remains within acceptable limits, with no transition period needed when switching between lots.
