Shrimp Post Larval Feed PL300

Aqua Plus^® PL300 microencapsulated post-larvae feed is developed around the feeding capacity and metabolic traits of PL5-PL15 shrimp. The 300-micron particle size fits the mouth gap width at this stage perfectly, ensuring efficient intake while avoiding rejection from oversized particles. 

Pellet hardness is carefully controlled – they hold together in water but crush easily when grasped by the post-larvae's maxillipeds, striking a good balance between water stability and feeding practicality.

This PL300 micro-diet forms an even suspension layer upon entry, mimicking the natural distribution of live prey in the water column and triggering group feeding responses in post-larvae. The capsule wall uses high-stability marine polysaccharides that stay intact in seawater, with leaching rates kept under 5% – this greatly cuts down dissolved organics and suspended solids that affect water quality.

Uneaten feed and feces are easy to remove via screens or drainage, making it especially suitable for high-density nurseries and recirculating systems where fine-tuned water management matters.

PL300 microencapsulated post-larvae feed works as a solid supplement or partial substitute for Artemia nauplii. A 3-to-5-day gradual weaning schedule works best: start with 30% micro-diet plus 70% Artemia, move to 60%/40% midway, and transition to micro-diet alone later on.

This approach cuts Artemia cultivation area by 30%-50% while reducing the risk of introducing WSSV, Vibrio and other pathogens carried by live prey. Commercial hatchery trials have confirmed survival rates above 85% during the weaning period with this protocol.
