Spirulina Flakes For Shrimp

Aqua Plus® Spirulina Flakes are produced from Arthrospira platensis through harvesting, drying and pressing into flake form. Spirulina itself is naturally high in protein – this product contains a minimum of 46% crude protein, with an amino acid profile that closely matches shrimp requirements and a digestibility rate exceeding 80%. The flake form preserves the natural nutrients of spirulina and is suitable for direct feeding or as a supplement to base diets – particularly useful during weaning stages to help shrimp transition smoothly from live feed to formulated feed.

These spirulina flakes are rich in gamma-linolenic acid, vitamins, and minerals, along with natural bioactive compounds like phycocyanin and polyphenols that offer antioxidant and immunomodulatory benefits. Studies confirm that dietary spirulina can enhance phenoloxidase activity, total hemocyte count, and phagocytic activity in shrimp, strengthening resistance against pathogens like Vibrio. These flakes soften rapidly in water, making them easy for shrimp to graze on; with quick nutrient release and high feeding efficiency, they are an ideal choice for daily nutritional supplementation.

Can be fed alone as a daily supplement or mixed with base pellets. When feeding alone, offer 2-3 times daily, with each portion consumed within 1-2 hours. When used as an additive, a 3%–8% inclusion rate is recommended, adjustable based on species and growth stage. The flakes can be added directly to the pond without pre-treatment.
