Organic Spirulina Powder

Aqua Plus^® Spirulina powder is a natural feed ingredient produced from Arthrospira platensis or Arthrospira maxima through harvesting, drying and grinding. It contains 60%–70% crude protein, along with abundant essential amino acids, gamma-linolenic acid, vitamins and minerals. For shrimp, protein digestibility of spirulina powder exceeds 80%, and its amino acid profile closely matches shrimp requirements, making it a quality alternative to fishmeal protein. Adding appropriate levels of spirulina powder to feed has been shown to significantly improve weight gain rate and specific growth rate in shrimp.

Spirulina Powder Feed contains natural bioactive compounds including polyphenols, flavonoids and phycocyanin, which offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. Studies confirm that dietary spirulina powder can enhance phenoloxidase activity, total hemocyte count, and phagocytic activity in shrimp, strengthening resistance against pathogens like Vibrio. The natural pigments in spirulina powder also improve shrimp body coloration, giving shells a brighter, more marketable appearance.

Optimal inclusion levels vary across shrimp species and growth stages. For Penaeus monodon and Litopenaeus vannamei, a 3%–8% inclusion rate is generally recommended. Based on weight gain rate as the evaluation index, the optimal spirulina-to-fishmeal replacement ratio is approximately 10%–15%. It is advisable to conduct gradient trials based on species, stage and base formulation to determine the optimal level for specific applications. The product comes as a dry powder, store in sealed packaging at room temperature away from light and use promptly after opening.
