Rural revitalization hinges on industry. In recent years, Erdaogou Village in Linhe Town has leveraged its local water and soil resources to vigorously develop a distinctive aquaculture industry specializing in whiteleg shrimp. Through standardized greenhouse farming, scientific and meticulous management, and a chain-based model that links farmers, the village has forged a new path of distinctive, large-scale, and prosperous aquaculture.
Recently, reporters visited the standardized breeding base for Pacific white shrimp in Erdaogou Village and saw rows of ponds shimmering in the sunlight. Inside the breeding sheds, the base manager was squatting by the pond, gently scooping up the crystal-clear shrimp larvae with a net, carefully examining their color, activity level, and feeding behavior, a bustling scene of thriving aquaculture.

An interview of the local shrimp farmer
"This is our second year of shrimp farming. Last year, we farmed 20 mu (approximately 3.3 hectares) of shrimp ponds, producing 14,000 jin (approximately 7,000 kg) of shrimp and generating a net profit of 150,000 yuan(22,400USD). This strengthened our confidence in specialty aquaculture. Therefore, this year we expanded our scale of operations, increasing the farming area to 62 mu (approximately 4.8 hectares) and stocking a total of 1.8 million shrimp fry. We expect a yield of 40,000 jin (approximately 20,000 kg) and a significant increase in profits," said Ren Xuefeng, from Erdaogou Village, Linhe Town, Ningxia.

characteristics of Vannamei Shrimp Farming
It is understood that the Pacific white shrimp has significant characteristics such as a short growth cycle, high survival rate, and outstanding nutritional value. Under conventional farming conditions, it can grow into marketable shrimp in about 100 days, with farming efficiency far exceeding that of ordinary aquaculture species.
Relying on a refined and standardized management model, the Pacific white shrimp produced in Erdaogou Village have firm meat, a sweet taste, and superior quality. Their low-fat and high-protein characteristics meet the public's demand for healthy diets, and they enjoy extremely high market recognition.

"Compared to other aquatic products, whiteleg shrimp are easier to manage and the technology is more mature. Based on a year of farming practice last year, we have accumulated mature management experience, which is why we continue to choose to farm whiteleg shrimp this year," said Ren Xuefeng.
Furthermore, Erdaogou Village has innovated its benefit-sharing mechanism, broadening farmers' income channels through various means such as wages for employment, industry dividends, and self-driven end-user sales. This has formed a new pattern of industrial development characterized by "base-driven, household participation, and benefit for everyone," realizing a shift from "individual efforts" to "collective development."

Next, Erdaogou Village will actively explore the integration model of "aquaculture + tourism", relying on Yuyue Bay Camp to create an agricultural tourism complex that integrates aquaculture, leisure fishing and parent-child interaction, further extending the industrial chain, enhancing the added value of the industry, continuously strengthening its characteristics, optimizing its brand, and expanding the industry, further deepening the effectiveness of linking farmers and leading them to prosperity, and painting a new picture of thriving industry, beautiful scenery and harmonious people on the scroll of rural revitalization.
